Sevilla have told Liverpool they must pay £8million if they are serious about signing Barcelona target Luis Alberto, reports talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this summer, with a host of clubs believed to be vying for his signature.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has been credited with an interest in bringing Alberto to Anfield when the transfer window reopens on July 1, as he looks to strengthen his options in the middle of the park.

Liverpool rate the player at around £5million but look like being forced to pay £3million more than their initial valuation in order to push through a deal for the Spain U21 international.

Barcelona actually have first option on signing Alberto - who spent last season playing for the Catalan club's B-team - but must make a decision before June 15 in order to activate the buy-back clause.
