Lionel Messi triumphed over Cristiano Ronaldo for the second successive season in pursuit of the Pichichi Trophy, as the Barcelona superstar pipped his Real Madrid rival to the title of the top scorer in Spain in 2012-13.

The Argentina international netted a sensational 46 goals in 32 games for Barcelona over the course of the league campaign, compared to the 34 scored by Ronaldo as Real Madrid claimed second place.

Messi's tally is actually four fewer than the total he managed in the previous season, as the Barcelona forward became the first player in La Liga history to net 50 times in a single campaign.

Between the two of them, Messi and Ronaldo totalled a staggering 80 goals in La Liga in 2012-13, and all of them can he seen in the handily created YouTube video below.
