UFC legend has reiterated his desire to move from the octagon into the ring for a bout with Roy Jones Jr.
It is not the first time Silva has threatened to move from UFC to Boxing, as he was close to stepping into the ring for a clash with the former WBA Heavyweight champion in 2009.
The fight failed to materialise and the notion was thought to be dead in the water after Silva signed a deal with UFC that committed his future to the organisation.
However, Silva reopened the debate in a recent interview with the New York Post where he even classed a match-up with 44-year-old Jones Jr as more enticing than setting up a superfight with fellow MMA legends George St-Pierre or Jon Jones.
Silva is still going strong having a record 16 straight UFC fights but hinted he could be persuaded to take on the challenge once his MMA career was over.
“I think everyone’s got something they’re focused on and that’s my own desire, something I’d like to do,” he said in the Post interview.
“Maybe one day when I’m done my UFC career I will box Roy Jones.”
