Christian Benteke's agent has confirmed that Fiorentina have joined the race for the Belgian's services this summer.

Benteke impressed in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 19 times to help Aston Villa avoid the drop.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund have all been linked with a move for the powerful Belgian, who has hinted he is ready to force his way out of Villa Park if needs be this summer.

Now his agent Eris Kismet has confirmed that Fiorentina have been added to his growing list of suitors, and revealed that the Serie A club watched him in action during the final weeks of the Premier League season.

"There were representatives of Fiorentina during games at the end of the season,” he told ESPN FC.

“They are one of many clubs who have an interest, but we are waiting to hold more talks with Aston Villa when Christian finishes playing with the national team and comes back from a holiday."

Benteke looks set to be at the centre of a fierce transfer tussle this summer.

Spurs are said to have offered a cash-plus-player deal with Jermain Defoe believed to be the makeweight - something Villa have denied.

Tottenham have also been linked with Leandro Damiao, David Villa and Jackson Martinez.

Arsenal are said to be gearing up to battle Spurs for the 22-year-old's signature - and the Gunners could step up their attempts to secure his services with previous target Stevan Jovetic believed to be on his way to Juventus.

Ironically, it is the potential departure of Jovetic that has prompted Fiorentina's interest in Benteke.
