They say that the game of golf is a good walk spoiled. Well, whatever your persuasion the chances are you'll be hearing quite a lot about it over the next couple of weeks, because US Open season is almost upon us.

Yep, that's right, the second major of the 2013 campaign is just around the corner, and as golf's glitterati prepare to head over to Merion in Pennsylvania, it's only right that GiveMeSport does its best to get you in the mood for the forthcoming tournament.

All the biggest and best names will be there, from Tiger Woods to Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia, the US Open really is a who's-who of leading golfers, all equally determined to lay their hands on the prestigious prize at the end of one of the most distinguished competitions in the golfing calendar.

Ultimately, the US Open is about identifying the best player, and that right now, appears to be Woods. With four tournament wins on the PGA Tour already this year, the world number one will be one of the favourites heading into the event, as he bids to end his five-year major drought and claim the trophy he last won at Torrey Pines in 2008.

Before the US Open kicks off at Merion next Thursday, it's time to test your golfing knowledge in this ten question quiz above. Good luck!
