Former Barcelona superstar set for Turkey move?

Turkish club Besiktas have reportedly made a bid to acquire the services of Brazil star Ronaldinho from Atletico Mineiro, as they look to add creativity to their squad and improve on their third place finish this season.

Besiktas vice-president, Ahmet Nur Cebi, told reporters: “We have made an offer for Ronaldinho. We are now awaiting his answer.”

Ronaldinho – now 33-years-old – has been situated in Brazil since January 2011, when he left AC Milan to join Flamengo. He remained at Flamengo for a season-and-a-half – making 71 appearances, scoring 28 goals and being accredited with 15 assists – before moving on to Atletico Mineiro.

At Atletico Mineiro, he has made 47 appearances, scoring 17 goals and contributing 17 assists.

Prior to his re-arrival in Brazil, it is common knowledge of just how good he was for AC Milan and before that for both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian legend made 416 appearances, scored 148 goals and managed 128 assists during his time in Europe.

The attacking midfielder, whose real name is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, has also achieved 97 caps for Brazil and found the back of the net on 33 occasions for his country.

Should the Porto Alegre-born legend decide to join Besiktas, he will once again be gracing Europe and would compete with the side in the Europa League competition.

Despite his age, he has consistently shown that he still has the class and quality that make him one of the best players to ever grace a football field. On the ball, he is still as good as ever and has continued to embarrass players, with his out of this world ability, in the Brazilian League.

As a result, the signing would be a big one for Besiktas and help them push on to perhaps achieve success in both the Turkish Super League and Europa League competitions.
