There aren’t too many achievements that LeBron James hasn’t accomplished in his illustrious NBA career, but being on the cover of a NBA video games hadn’t been one of them, until now.
The best-selling and top-rated NBA game of the past five years, NBA 2K, has featured basketball legends Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird on the cover the past couple of years.
However, for its latest edition NBA 2k14 has enlisted Miami Heat forward James to be the cover athlete of this year’s much anticipated 2K series.
It’s fair to say it’s been a long time coming. James is not only the best basketball player on the planet but he’s guaranteed to go down in history as one of the true legends of the game.
His PER of 31.6 was a career high and he along with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade have led the Heat to an amazing 66 wins and a spot in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs.Although there’s no better time than the present, the Miami Heat all-star has just come off a spectacular season averaging 26.8 points on .565/.406/.753 shooting to go with 8.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.9 blocks.
James has fully deserved this award after being regarded the best basketball player on the planet. He’s taken his game to new levels at both ends of the floor, and while Kevin Durant has given him stiff competition, LeBron always seems to go the extra mile and widen the gap.
With LeBron on the cover, the sales of this year’s game look set to reach record heights. He’s tremendously popular in the sporting world and this will only trend upwards when appearing as the face of NBA 2k14.
