Bowling Green State University have announced North Carolina State executive senior associate director of athletics Chris Kingston as its new athletic director.

Kingston will be officially introduced in a news conference on campus on Monday after the school announced his appointment on Sunday.

The former military man will leave his post in North Carolina having taken up the role in 2010 to become Bowling Green's 13th full-time athletics director.

Kingston will be directly responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of both the football and men’s basketball programs as well as multimedia rights and athletic branding.

At North Carolina State he was directly responsible for overseeing the football and mens’ basketball programs as well as looking after external relations, NCAA compliance and student services.

He takes over from Greg Christopher, who departed to join Xavier University in March.

Kingston's previous experience includes four years serving as the associate director of athletics with the United States Military Academy, and he was commissioned as an Army second lieutenant after graduation from Central Florida in 1994.
