Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will only leave the Stadium of Light if the club allow him, according to his agent.
The 25-year old had an impressive season despite the club's battle against relegation and has been linked with Arsenal.
Guy Vandersmissen, Mignolet's agent, admits that it would be difficult for the Belgian to leave whilst under contract but hinted at leaving when it expires in two years time.
He told ESPN: "At this moment there are some clubs who are interested but Simon still has a two-year contract so we depend on the position that Sunderland is taking in relation to an eventual transfer.
"There is a contract so we have to respect the contract. But I don't think at this moment we would be prepared to sign a new contract. When there is a new contract the team can block a player.
"There are another two years on his contract, if they want us to stick to that, we will stick to that and perhaps leave after two years if there is an interest in Simon.
"If they want to make a proposal to Simon, they should come up with a decent proposal and we will then have a look at it."
Vandermissen revealed that Sunderland were looking to extend the Belgian's contract earlier in the season. However, the goalkeeper was hesitant due to the threat of relegation that looming over the club.
"I would say four or five months ago we talked but the situation for Sunderland was not that good," he continued.
"It was not clear that they would have enough quality to stay in the Premiership so it was not the right moment to discuss or sign a new contract because we didn't want to start up in the Championship next season."
Mignolet joined the Black Cats in 2010 from Belgian side Sint-Truiden. It was reported that the Belgian, who has made 13 appearances for his country, cost the club around £2million.
His form last season has attracted strong interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Napoli this summer.
