D'Angelo Russell commits to Ohio State

Ohio State have landed one of the most exciting young talents in the 2014 recruiting class after CBSSports.com's Jeff Borzello confirmed that D’Angelo Russell had committed to signing for the Buckeyes.

The Montverde Academy shooting guard is a five-star pick and is ranked 20th in 247Sports.com's top recruits for 2014.

Russell, a 6ft 4in junior from Louisville opted for the Buckeyes over the likes of Michigan State and North Carolina.

"I have been going through the recruiting process for a long time but never cut my list down. I know Ohio State is where I want to be, so I made my decision," he said.

"I evaluated their situation and felt it was best for me."

The arrival of Russell at Ohio means the Buckeyes now have four commits for the class of 2014 - he joins fellow five-star recruit Keita Bates-Diop along with Jae'Sean Tate and three-star power forward David Bell.

Russell revealed the prospect of playing alongside Bates-Diop played a huge part in his decision to commit to Ohio State.

"I decided to go to Ohio State because of the environment of the program, the coaching staff and the players I will be playing with such as Keita Bates-Diop," Russell said.

The Buckeyes will now set their sights on landing centre Jahlil Okafor, who sits atop of the composite rankings, something 17-year-old Russell believes he can help out with.

"I feel I can help the coaches landing a big man," he said. "I understand them and know how to play with them," he said. "I had success with [Kentucky signee] Dakari Johnson."
