Robert Brown ends Georgia Southern playing days

Robert Brown has ended his successful playing career at Georgia Southern after suffering from a number of injuries in the past years.

Brown will remain with the team and assist the program in another capacity but he will no longer take to the field as a player.

Brown became Georgia Southern's first freshman to surpass 1,000 rushing yards since 1987 and he went on to rush for 2,063 yards with 12 touchdowns in his career.

The Georgia Southern Eagles Georgia Southern are playing their final season in the Southern Conference which they won in 2011. They will be rising to the FBS level, and the Sun Belt Conference, next year.

Georgia Southern have won eight NCAA FCS National Championships since being founded in 1924, the most by any team in the United States.

They were also joint winners last year as them and Appalachian State and Wofford held identical records of winning six matches and losing two.
