Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are set to miss out on Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo this summer, according to reports.
TalkSPORT claims Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea have all shown an interest in the 30-year-old, who became frustrated at the end of the season as his side blew their chances of a treble in the Portuguese League, Europa League and Portuguese Cup.
After publically pushing manager Jorge Jesus after the domestic Cup final defeat, Cardozo is expected to leave the Estadio da Luz this summer, and it’s Fenerbahce who have now joined the front of the queue to land the player.
The Turkish giants finished second in the Super Lig last season, and the 32-goal Paraguayan could be the man to lead them to the title next term. Agent Pedro Aldave insists his client would have no problem moving to the country.
“With us there are no problems. Oscar would be happy to play in Turkey,” he told Turkish newspaper Fanatik.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to strengthen his attack after missing out on a Champions League place last season.
Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor were the only senior options available to the Spurs manager last season, and both injuries and lack of form affected their progress in-front of goal at White Hart Lane.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are another team short of options in-front of goal.
The Reds were over-reliant on Luis Suarez at the start of the season, and manager Brendan Rodgers added Daniel Sturridge in January to ease the burden on the Uruguayan at Anfield.
However, Suarez is eager to move away from Merseyside this summer, and if he does leave Liverpool then manager Brendan Rodgers will have some work to do to replace him in the transfer window.
Cardozo does not appear to be the man for the Reds, but rivals Tottenham don’t appear likely to land the player either anymore.
