Zlatan Ibrahimovic's sensational twirling overhead kick has been crowned the best goal of 2012/13 in a poll by The Guardian.

Ibrahimovic's wonder strike came against England in November and was the icing on the cake following the Paris Saint Germain striker's hat-trick earlier in the game. The game ended 4-2 thanks to Ibrahimovic's individual brilliance.

The Swede's flying overhead kick which arched into England's net after Joe Hart's failed clearance claimed 34% of the votes cast in the Guardian's website poll.

'Ibra' was in a typically enigmatic mood afterwards, insisting his first goal against England was better - leaving it for Steven Gerrard to declare his final goal was the best he'd ever seen live.

He finished well clear of Leicester's Anthony Knockaert whose goal against Huddersfield raked in 17% of the overall vote. Liverpool striker Luis Suarez's sublime goal against Newcastle completes the top three.

Robin van Persie's wonder-volley against Aston Villa comes home in 4th place having accumulated 8% of the votes, with Nottingham Forest's Simon Cox claiming the final top five spot with his sensational goal against Birmingham City.

Oscar's goal for Chelsea against Juventus was voted the 6th best goal of the season with 5% of all votes, ahead of a smattering of goals which earned 2% of votes.
