Bath have completed the signing of Gavin Henson as a utility back.

The 31-year-old moves to The Rec following lengthy discussions with the club, and will serve as cover in the fly-half, centre and full-back positions.

"Gavin is still a very ambitious man and the prospect of him playing at The Rec is an exciting one," said head coach Gary Gold.

"We know Gavin's qualities and have seen him work extremely hard for his team and perform at a consistently high level last season."

Henson has played for Ospreys, Saracens, Toulon, Cardiff Blues and London Welsh in a career that has seen the Welshman make headlines on both the front and back pages.

Capped 33-times for his country, the mercurial talent was unable to stop the Exiles from getting relegated to the Championship last term, featuring just 11 times because of injury.

However, a move to Bath means Henson gets another chance to impress in the Aviva Premiership, and he can’t wait to get started with his new club in the west country.

"I am thrilled to be joining Bath this summer and I look forward to becoming part of what looks a very exciting squad,” added the player himself.

"I still very much want to be playing at the highest level, and Bath is a big club with big plans. I know what is expected of me and I can't wait to get started."

A former contestant on 71 Degrees North, Strictly Come Dancing and The Bachelor, Henson will hope to become a star on the pitch once again, rather than making his name with television appearances off it.
