Manchester United have been joined by arch rivals Manchester City in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

New Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini reportedly sees the Polish striker as the man to lead the Etihad Stadium club back to the Premier League title next year.

However, Old Trafford manager David Moyes is also keen on Lewandowski and the two clubs are heads for a transfer tussle over a deal expected to be in the region of £22.5million.

New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho claimed the Blues’ £50million record signing Fernando Torre has been “so-so” since he moved to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool.

Mourinho has reportedly been considering selling Torres this summer as he looks to revamp the squad for his second spell as Chelsea boss.

Arsenal are the surprise favourites to sign Manchester United winger Nani after Galatasaray pulled out.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to splash the cash this summer and Nani is one of his possible targets, though he is not expected to be a big-money signing as he is entering the final year of his contract.

Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry over highly-rated Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Andre Villas-Boas is keen to reinforce Spurs attacking department but the Gabon international is being watched by a number of Europe’s top clubs.

Barcelona have made contact with Arsenal over the possible transfer of centre-back Laurent Koscielny, according to reports in Spain.

The France international was one of the Gunners most impressive defenders last season and Barcelona have highlighted him as the man Tito Vilanova believes can fix the Camp Nou club’s problems at the back.
