Goalkeeper scores from 90 yards out

It can happen to any goalkeeper, but it doesn’t stop it from being a moment they will want to quickly forget – though Dan Sade’s opposite number Otto Martler will be smiling for some time.

That is because the Falkenberg ‘keeper can tell friends and family that he has scored a goal from 90-yards after his side’s 4-0 victory over Varberg on Saturday.

Just 20 minutes in, after Falkenberg had already taken the lead, Martler collected the ball on the edge of his area and launched the ball forward.

Now, there was a fair gale blowing in Sweden but you will sympathise with Sade, as the bounce and gust that beat him were freak.

You can imagine the anguish on Sade’s face as he quickly realised he had come too far and, despite desperate attempts to recover, watched the ball sail into his net.

As the 4-0 scoreline suggests, it didn’t get much better for Varberg number one, though it was unlikely to get worse.
