Paris Saint-Germain are willing to make an world record £85million bid for Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale to convince Andre Villas-Boas to take over.

According to the Mirror, the Spurs boss is being eyed as the ideal replacement for current manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is almost certain to leave for Real Madrid.

Tottenham are reluctant to let Villas-Boas go and the report claims the former Chelsea manager also rejected a first approach from the Ligue 1 champions after a record Premier League points haul with Spurs last season.

However, the White Hart Lane club narrowly missed out on Champions League football and PSG are determined to convince him to take up the reins at the Parc des Princes.

The Qatari-owned club will go about this by offering the world record sum for Gareth Bale, as a show of commitment to Villas-Boas as to how much they want him in charge.

Incidentally, the club that could be responsible for PSG moving for Villas-Boas and Bale, Real Madrid, were considered to be in poll position to sign the Welshman once he decided to leave White Hart Lane.
