Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has stated that Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne wants to join the club, despite the fact new Blues manager Jose Mourinho now sees him as a part of his plans.
The 21-year-old spent the entirety of last season on loan in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen, so he knows the league well. And with former Werder Bremen Andre Schurrle making the move to Stamford Bridge, De Bruyne has since been linked with a move back to the club he spent last last season on loan with.
But there has been another twist in this story after returning Chelsea manager stated in his press conference last week that he plans to unleash Belgian duo De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku on the Premier League next season.
Fellow Belgian Lukaku spent last season on loan at West Brom, performing well, so even if De Bruyne asks for the transfer, it could well be denied by Mourinho, who wants De Bruyne to feature in his match day squads next season.
But Dortmund director Zorc is adamant that De Bruyne wishes to return to the Bundesliga next season to play with the Champions League runners-up.
"We are interested in the signature of Kevin De Bruyne," he told Ruhr Nachrichten newspaper. "We are not at the helm in this respect of course. I am however able to confirm that the player does want to make a transfer to our club."
Reports have also linked Zorg's team with a move for Ajax playmaker Christian Erikson, but with interest building in a deal for De Bruyne, we could expect Dortmund to approach Chelsea in the coming days.
