Manchester United target Claudio Marchisio will not leave Juventus this summer, unless it is for a 'sensational' offer, according to the Serie 'A' club's director general Beppe Marotta.

Sky Sports reports how the 27-year-old midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from Turin, with AS Monaco also credited with an interest in the Italy international's services.

Marchisio recently spoke of his honour at being linked with such illustrious clubs, before revealing his intention to speak with Juve boss Antonio Conte about his long-term future.

He also denied speculation that the recent uncertainty centred around money, playing down suggestions that he was simply angling for a new contract.

"It is not for this reason [my future is unclear]. For me, it is not about money," he told Sky Italia.

David Moyes is understood to be keen to recruit Marchisio, as he looks to add to his creative midfield options at Old Trafford ahead of next season.

However, any hope Manchester United might have had of luring the player to the Premier League has now been dashed, after Marotta said it was highly unlikely that Marchisio will leave this summer.

"We won't sell him," Marotta told "It seems to me that the clearest demonstration about Marchisio's importance to Juventus was the contract renewal we signed in September 2012 until June 2017 which changed his salary.

"We would only review the situation if a sensational offer arrived that wasn't in line with the market and that, until this moment, hasn't arrived."
