Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher believes that if Luiz Suarez is offered a big-money move by Real Madrid then he should not feel obliged to stay at Anfield, after a season of controversy.
The Uruguayan has been involved in a series of incidents during his stay with the Reds, and this has been intensified this season after accusations of diving and a certain biting incident which saw the striker banned for 10 games.
But former Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has said that Suarez shouldn't stay at Liverpool out of loyalty, but because he wants to stay in England.
Carragher, who retired at the end of last season, told Sky Sports News: "Luis Suarez can't stay at Liverpool forever just because they've supported him in certain situations.
"Liverpool were right to support him because he's their player but if he wasn't very good player and wasn't producing on the pitch then Liverpool would sell him.
"Are they being loyal to a player if they sell him?"
Carragher also highlighted that loyalty hardly exists in the game any longer, and that this shouldn't blinker any potential move this summer.
"I think loyalty in football, from both sides, is overplayed a bit.
"Basically Liverpool are loyal to Luis Suarez because he's such a good player and Luis has got to think of his own career and what he wants to achieve," said Carragher.
And despite the rumoured interest by Real Madrid, Carragher believes that the ball is grounded in Liverpool's court in regards to any potential move.
"As much as it's in Luis court, it's in Liverpool's court to decide what they want to do; whether they want to keep the player or cash in on him," added Carragher.
