Ajax director of football Marc Overmas has claimed his club are not interested in signing AZ Alkmaar starlet Adam Maher, clearing the way for the Dutchman to move to the Premier League, according to Sky Sports.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Spurs have all been linked with the Holland under-21 international, who starred at the recent European Championships in Israel.

And it looks like the Premier League suitors have a free run at the 19-year-old after Overmars confirmed his club were out of the running.

Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Overmars said: "I have called Adam and his agent Sigi Lens to tell them we will make other choices.

"I have also informed AZ that we are no longer interested."

Previous reports quoting Maher had stated the midfielder would prefer to continue his development in the Eredivisie after breaking into the AZ first-team.

He's already made his Netherlands senior team debut, and won the KNVB Cup with AZ this season.

But the teenager's performances, especially in the Europa League, have attracted interest from around Europe - and specifically the Premier League.

Arsenal were thought to be among the front-runners, and Arsene Wenger has a strong track record when it comes to promoting young talent into the first-team.
