The only ranked players left in the Wuxi Classic are world number one Neil Robertson, John Higgins, Robert Milkins and Joe Perry after Ali Carter, Mark Williams and Mark King all bowed out.
King did have to face an inform Neil Robertson and looked to have nothing to combat the 2010 world champion as he ran out 5-0 winner.
Carter, who hasn't seen a championship final since late last year, was knocked out by Ireland's David Morris, while Williams fell to fellow Englishman Anthony Hamilton.
Milkins secured a 5-1 win over Scott Donaldson and David Gilbert fell to Asian Tour winner Joe Perry.
The only Chinese players left in the competition were Xiao Guodong and Cao Yupeng but Xiao fell at the final hurdle, being white-washed by Higgins 5-0 - so it is left to Cao to fly the flag for China when he faces Robertson.
The other quarter-finals pit Perry against Higgins - two inform players - this is likely to be a very close match. While Matthew Stevens plays David Morris and Milkins goes head-to-head with Hamilton.
