Colombia prepare for robot World Cup

With the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Jackson Martinez among their number, Colombia have been placed as one of the outside bets to claim World Cup glory in Brazil next summer.

Colombia are currently well placed to reach the finals in 2014, with José Pekerman's side three points behind group leaders Argentina, while they retain a game in hand over La Albiceleste.

While Colombia prepare to launch a bid to secure their first World Cup trophy, Los Cafeteros' cyborg compatriots are themselves taking the necessary steps to ensure they clinch an international title of their own.

Colombia are among the favourites to capture the RoboCup world championships title, which begins next Monday, although face testing encounters against their robo-rivals from the United States and China.

Final fine tuning is being made to the goalscoring machines ahead of the tournament in the Netherlands, and the Colombian team have provided a glimpse of their intensive training camp as the RoboCup edges ever closer.
