David Beckham has offered his best wishes to those fans injured during a stampede created by his presence at Shanghai Tongji University on Thursday.

More than a thousand fans turned up to get a glimpse of the former Manchester United and Real Madrid superstar - who is performing ambassadorial work in China - but seven people were injured in the crush.

Beckham had to be whisked away in a car in order to escape the crowds, while medics treated those left stricken after the fans present had pushed forward in the hope of getting close to ex-England captain.

Clearly disturbed by the scenes, Beckham released a video message to say 'get well soon' to the people who were hurt during Thursday's events.
