Liverpool look set to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet after the two clubs agreed a fee in excess of £11 million, according to Sky Sports.
The Premier League duo have been locked in negotiations for weeks after the Belgian stated that he wants to play at a higher level and fight for Champions League football.
And now the Black Cats have agreed to Mignolet's demands, having agreed a fee with Liverpool after lengthy discussions, with the former Sint-Truiden stopper set to undergo a medical next week.
The Belgian international made the move to the Stadium of Light back in 2010, with Sunderland spending just £2 million to acquire his services.
Mignolet has two years left on his current deal in the North East, so Sunderland were in no hurry to sell one of their prized assets.
But an £11 million deal seems to suit both parties, as Paolo Di Canio's side look to make five times what they originally paid for the player.
The imminent arrival of Mignolet will surely increase speculation around the future of Liverpool's current number one, Pepe Reina.
The Spainard has long been linked with a move to Barcelona and the signing of Mignolet may push Reina closer to the Anfield exit.
With both 'keepers at the peak of their careers, there will not be room for both in the first-team next season.
Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes has recently stated his desire to see out the remaining year of of his contract at the Nou Camp, so a switch to La Liga is by no means certain for Reina.
Last week, Reina claimed he wants to stay at Anfield, before conceding a move to a big club would be a "good opportunity" - and they don't come much bigger than Barcelona.
