Chelsea striker a surprise target for Leicester City

Leicester City are planning an audacious bid to sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba, according to SportsDirect News.

Question marks have been raised about the 28-year-old's long-term future in west London, following the managerial return of Jose Mourinho.

With Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku providing competition for the single place at the focal point of Chelsea's attack next season, the Senegal international might be better served leaving Stamford Bridge if he wants to guarantee himself regular first-team football.

Demba Ba might argue he still has what it takes to cut it in the Premier League, and could point to his goalscoring record over the past couple of years as evidence of his ability in the English top-flight.

However, with few transfer offers in the pipeline, a move to the King Power Stadium may turn out to be his only option, in what would be regarded as a major coup for the Championship club, as they bid to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League in 2013/14.
