Laura Robson ensured there would be a female British interest in the second round of the Wimbledon main draw, with a stunning 6-3 6-4 victory over tenth seed Maria Kirilenko.
The 19-year-old British number one came up with one of her greatest ever performances in front of a packed court one at the All England Club.
Robson was irresistible on serve, barely giving her Russian opponent a look-in as she dominated the first set from start to finish.
Kirilenko, 26, was then broken twice early on in the second set as she crumbled under the pressure of Robson's powerful stroke play.
The Olympic semi-finalist did give herself hope by recouping one of those breaks of serve, but Robson held her concentration to close the match out in one hour and 18 minutes.
Victory moves Robson, the world number 37, level with her best ever performance at Wimbledon - a second round appearance back in 2011.
But Kirilenko, a quarter-finalist at three of the Grand Slam tournaments and the winner of six WTA tournaments, represents by far Robson's biggest scalp at SW19.
It's not the first time Robson has shocked higher ranked opposition however. Last year she reached the last 16 of the US Open, defeating major winners Li Na and Kim Clijsters on route.
Robson will face unseeded Colombian Mariana Duque in round two. The 23-year-old is ranked at 117 and represents a beatable opponent as the Australian-born teenager looks to move forward in the competition.
The exit of Heather Watson this morning means that Robson, along with British number one Andy Murray, are the only Brit's left in this year's singles competitions.
