Arsenal's season this year, as always, had many ups and downs.
During the season views about the current team have varied with some saying they are good and others doubting their ability.
However in the final third of the season, the team were involved in a spectacular run of form which saw them win eight and draw two of their 10 remaining Premier League matches.
During this stage, the Gunners were fantastic in possession creating plenty of opportunities and working well as a unit off the ball.
I believe that the squad during this stage demonstrated their true abilities and the positive spirit which is essential in any successful team.
Defensively there was some solidarity between Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker at the back with both full-backs rotating and doing their respective jobs to an acceptable standard.
Aaron Ramsey was resilient in midfield alongside the always consistent Mikel Arteta which enabled us to dominate games in the middle of the park. The attacking minds of Tomas Rosicky and Santi Cazorla provided service for Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Oliver Giroud upfront - who often converted the chances.
As well as a great first team there were plenty of options on the bench who were capable of changing a game in Arsenal's favour. The bench, unlike recent years, was filled with very strong players which shows the depth Arsenal had in their squad this year.
In my opinion, this team has great qualities and could be the beginning of something special. However with this said, there is always room for improvement which looks like being acted upon this summer with the £70million Arsene Wenger has reportedly been handed.
Arsenal need a new and experienced goalkeeper who can challenge Szczesny and improve him as a keeper for the long term will benefit the squad.
They also require a clinical striker to just score that one more goal to finish off matches which they were unable to do in games against Queens Park Rangers and Manchester United, for example.
Additionally a defensive midfielder will be welcome to fill the void left by the departure of Alex Song to provide cover for the defence which Abou Diaby unfortunately, due to injury, was unable to do.
There are several small tweaks that can be made to the team but the foundations of the squad are already there.
With some more quality added to the current first team, a highly successful team with exceptional physical and mental qualities can be formed by the magnificent Wenger.
