Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs is annoyed at being snubbed by England this summer, but he admits his main focus is on ending Arsenal's current trophy drought.
The Englishman has had an injury-hampered career, but had his best spell in the side this year, making 29 appearances.
Gibbs will now battle it out with Spanish left-back Nacho Monreal for the first-team spot after he signed for Arsenal from Malaga in January.
Despite the impressive season for Gibbs, England manager Roy Hodgson did not pick him in his squad for the summer friendlies against Republic of Ireland or Brazil and instead chose Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines, who are both considerably older.
Arsenal's season was full of highs and lows, but the majority were low-points as they failed to win any trophy once again for an eighth year running.
The Gunners put in poor performances in the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup after being eliminated in both by lower league oppositions.
Their Champions League run ended on a high as they defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 in Germany, but they lost the tie on away legs.
However in the league, The Gunners enjoyed a 10-game unbeaten streak in the final couple of months that saw them jump from sixth to fourth and into the Champions League places.
Gibbs believes last season was his best on a personal note, but he is mainly focused on winning titles with the club now.
Speaking to Arsenal's official magazine, Gibbs said: "It has been my best season so far. It is a stepping stone for me and now I just need to build and stay fit. I am sure I can do more for the [Arsenal] team.
"I was hopeful of getting into the England squad [this summer], but I was not called up.
"I will just relax now and make sure I prepare myself physically for next season, ensuring that I go into it with a clear head.
"I am really looking forward to it and hopefully we can all make it a special one.
"The dramatic finale to the season made us even stronger, and we will be going into the new one head on.
"We are aware that we need to produce next season and have to make sure we are confident about dealing with that expectation."
