Ivan Menjivar and Norifumi 'Kid' Yamamoto are set to contest a bantamweight bout at the UFC 165: Jones vs. Gustafsson fight card on September 21 in Toronto.
Menjiver competed as a lightweight in 2004 and has competed as heavy as welterweight throughout his career.
After a short time out of the sport, the 'Pride of El Salvador' returned to the UFC in 2011 as a bantamweight and has gone 4-2 in the organisation at 135 pounds.
Menjivar is coming back off a loss to former featherweight title-holder Urijah Faber at UFC 157 on February 23 in his last outing, but is confident he will get the win against Yamamoto.
Yamamoto was once considered the top featherweight fighter in the world, but has fallen on a rough patch recently, losing five of his last six fights.
Yamamoto made his UFC debut in February 2011 in the bantamweight division. He’s suffered three defeats so far, losing to Vaughan Lee by submission in his last outing.
UFC 165 takes place on September 21 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The event is headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between champion Jon Jones and top contender Alexander Gustafsson.
