Shanghai Shenhua midfielder Wang Shouting was sent off in Wednesday's Chinese Super League  clash against Changchun Yatai after attempting to drag an 'injured' opponent off the pitch.

After a coming together with Australian midfielder Matt McKay, the 27-year-old took it upon himself to usher the Changchun Yatai star off the field of play, after growing suspicious of his play-acting in the closing stages of the relegation six-pointer.

With Shanghai Shenhua 1-0 down and looking for a way back into the game, McKay's fabricated injury looked like nothing more than an attempt to wind down the clock, but his exaggerated action caused an angry reaction from Shouting.

The incident prompted numerous players from both sides to wade in by pushing and shoving each other, leaving the referee and linesman with a difficult job to calm the heated situation down as tempers continued to flare.

And feeling like he had to do something, the man in the middle issued a second yellow card to initial perpetrator Shouting, who was sent for an early bath, leaving Shanghai to play the last few minutes with ten-men.
