Paris St Germain manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed he "loves" Edinson Cavani as a player and would be interested in signing the Chelsea transfer target this summer, according to

The Napoli forward has been linked with Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, but Paris St Germain are the latest club to register an interest.

And reports claimed they're willing to meet Cavani's £53m release clause - a figure both City and Chelsea were thought to be unwilling to match.

Blanc told reporters: "I love Cavani, yes we are interested."

Earlier this week PSG director general Jean-Claude Blanc revealed the Ligue 1 champions were in talks with "a great player", sparking speculation a move for the Uruguayan international was underway.

And Laurent Blanc's confirmation of interest seems to indicate the French club are ready to seriously challenge favourites Real Madrid and Chelsea for his signature.

The Stamford Bridge club reportedly had a £34m-plus-Fernando Torres bid rejected earlier last month, while City were also reportedly turned down.

Napoli are steadfastly refusing to accept anything less than the striker's full £53m release clause. And PSG's apparent willingness to match the figure puts them at the head of the queue to win the race.
