Liverpool have moved a step closer to the signing of Henrikh Mkhitaryan after agreeing a fee for the player, according to reports.

Russian newspaper Sport Express claims the Reds are set to make an official announcement in the coming days, with the Express in England claiming that a £25million offer has been accepted.

The Armenian international playmaker failed to report for pre-season training with Shakhtar Donetsk, seemingly signalling his intent to leave the Ukrainian giants.

And, the report in Russia claims that Mkhitaryan will now fly to Liverpool, undergoing a medical before joining his teammates for training at Anfield.

German giants Borussia Dortmund haven’t given up hope of landing the player though, if are to be believed, with the website claiming the Champions League finalists remain favourites to land the 24-year-old.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has also been credited with an interest, but the same site claims a move to White Hart Lane is now unlikely.

Brendan Rodgers will hold out great hope if the Russian reports are to be believed, with Spurs’ loss set to be the gain of Liverpool in the Premier League next season.
