Brazilian midfielder Paulinho is undergoing a medical at Tottenham ahead of a proposed £17 million move from Corinthians.

Paulinho was in impressive form during the Confederations Cup in helping Brazil to the title, and was named the third best player of the tournament.

Tottenham beat off competition from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Roma for the 24-year-old.

The north London club are expected to announce the completion of the deal soon, even as early as this afternoon, although Paulinho already confirmed the transfer is going ahead in a press conference on Monday.

"This is a very hard moment for me, I have had three great years at Corinthians, but now it’s time to go to Tottenham," he said.

"The proposal came in, we sat down, analysed and resolved it. I’m sure I made a great decision going to a big club too. There comes a certain time when you need new challenges."

Paulinho was spotted at a London airport this morning, and was pictured with Brazilian swimmer Thiago Pereira.
