An amateur match in Brazil last weekend ended in truly horrifying circumstances as two people were murdered following the conclusion of the game, 101greatgoals reports.

Having been verbally abused and assaulted during the match in Maranhao in Brazil's north east, referee Otávio Jordão da Silva is alleged to have stabbed one of the players - a 31-year-old by the name of Josemir Santos.

Santos died of the wounds inflicted by the stabbing and, upon learning of his demise, friends and family of the deceased hounded down Otávio to exact retribution on the match official.

Otávio himself was then killed by the lynch mob, who proceeded to decapitate him - placing his head on a spike in the centre of the pitch - while he was also sliced into quarters.

At present there is little more information available on these dreadful crimes, but 101greatgoals are carrying images of the aftermath.
