Sporting Cristal goalkeeper Diego Penny is the laughing stock of Peruvian football this weekend, after he conceded a 35-yard howler in Saturday's 1-1 draw with UTC.

The 29-year-old was held solely responsible for Mauro Vila's long-range strike, after fumbling the opponent's speculative effort into his own net.

Penny's mistake proved to be rather costly for Sporting Cristal, who conceded ground in the title race at the top of the Peru Primeira Division table.

The 6ft 6in stopper actually had a spell playing in England with Burnley, but has now found worldwide fame following his latest embarrassing error.

Watch Diego Penny's terrible howler in the video below - with thanks to for bringing it to our attention - and feel free to share your favourite football bloopers in the comment box provided!
