Eli Manning is delighted to have wide receiver Victor Cruz tied down to a long-term contract with the New York Giants.

The 26-year-old joined Tom Coughlin in 2010 after going undrafted that year, and featured in a handful of games that season. He went on to became a permanent fixture in their SuperBowl winning campaign the following year, breaking the team's regular-season receiving yards record in the process.

Cruz again featured in every game last season, and the Giants have now secured the services of one of their best offensive weapons for the foreseeable future.

It’s a move that has unsurprisingly got the thumbs up from Manning, not least because he will no longer have to answer questions about No.80’s future at the MetLife Stadium.

"It's going to be nice to not have to answer any more questions about Victor and his contract status with the team," Eli told the New York Post.

"It's great to get Victor signed long-term and before the start of training camp. Obviously he has been a big part of our offence. He has worked really hard on the field to become the player he is and I look forward to continuing our work together."

Giants safety Antrel Rolle echoed the sentiments of his quarterback, believing that the duo can again produce success in the ultra-competitive NFC East.

"I think Victor and Eli have a connection, a very, very well-executed connection. They are always on the same page at the same time. Another year with having Eli under his belt and vice versa, I think it is only going to get better," he told NFL Total Access.

The Giants begin their campaign with a trip to the Dallas Cowboys, before a highly anticipated visit from the Denver Broncos in week two. That match-up will see the Manning brothers – Eli and Peyton – go head-to-head.
