Six of the best: Brilliant finishes

Football News

There are few things more satisfying in football than seeing a striker finish off an attacking move with real aplomb.

It induces a warm fuzzy feeling when you see a striker pull off a finish that you just did not expect, or beats the keeper with such beautiful calm that you wonder if he even has a pulse at all.

Then there are the players that do something outrageous, bringing out a skill or flick to bamboozle the last defender or the ‘keeper.

GMS were having the daily bout of reminiscence and this time we were purring about the best and classiest finishes we can remember.

We can tell you there have been more trying assignments than scouring the Internet for fantastic goals and we came up with five of our favourites.

Watch the five we picked below and tell us which was your favourite of the selection, as well as those you feel should be there, in the comments section.

Dennis Bergkamp – Holland v Argentina

Lionel Messi – Barcelona v Arsenal

Luis Suarez – Liverpool v Newcastle United

Eric Cantona – Manchester United v Sunderland

Kanu – Arsenal v Deportivo la Coruna

Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid v Rayo Vallecano
