Tottenham’s technical director Franco Baldini is prepared to make a firm offer for Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 18-year-old starlet was dubbed the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ after breaking into the Betis first-team in 2011 at the age of 16, and Spurs and Manchester United are now believed to be in pursuit.

He became the second youngest player to ever appear in La Liga game when he made his debut in the 1-0 away win against Granada two years ago, but a serious knee ligament injury in October 2011 curtailed his progress.

Vadillo’s since recovered to make 18 league appearances for the Spanish club, but his impressive form for the Spain national youth teams have alerted Premier League clubs.

Tottenham and Manchester United reportedly head the list of suitors, although the report claims Spurs technical director Baldini is ready to firm up his club’s interest with an offer to Betis.

Vadillo has made several appearances for Spanish national youth teams from under-17 level through the under-20.

He is believed to have a Real Betis contract until the summer of 2016, with a £16m buy-out clause.
