Nick Powell may not have had the debut season he was wishing for at Manchester United, only featuring for the first-team a couple of times.
But with David Moyes now in charge, and the clubs lack of midfield choice, maybe the young Englishman can establish himself as a regular in the title holders midfield.
Before playing for one of the most famous and well known football clubs in the world, Nick Powell started of his career at Crewe Alexandra, scoring an impressive 14 goals in 55 games from the central midfield position.
One of those, an amazing volley from just outside the box that helped his club gain promotion to the English third division.
Tipped to be 'the next Paul Scholes', because of his tactical awareness and goal scoring ability 19 year old has a lot to live up to.
Talking to the press for the first time after signing young Powell, Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We hope Powell fills Paul Scholes' boots. For an 18-year-old boy it has been a terrific day."
Powell only managed to get on the pitch twice for United last campaign but managed to bag himself a goal from outside the box against Wigan Athletic. And reports suggest that in fact Wigan themselves are looking to land the 19 year old on a season long loan to help them bounce straight back up to the Premier League.
However, with Scholes now officially retired and Darren Fletcher having a career threatening operation to be had, United do not have many central midfield choices at their disposal. This then could be the opportunity Powell has been waiting for to show he is here for the long run and will not be leaving any time soon.
