Atletico Madrid have successfully secured the services of David Villa.
And Villa’s decision to choose the club ahead of Tottenham looks pretty understandable as Atletico provides the opportunity to enjoy Champions League football and the Spanish atmosphere.
He was brought to Barcelona for €40 million and this transfer took just €5.1 million.
Apart from that was he really happy at Barcelona?? Looking at his stint at the Nou Camp, he scored 16 goals in 40 appearances last season and was often benched during important clashes.
Barcelona could not compromise on their center forward - that is Lionel Messi’s position. And because of that, Villa had to play in the wings just like Thierry Henry before.
The phenomenal striker was never able to settle and enjoy a goal feast at Barca which he is has had with Valencia and Spain.
Don't, forget Villa has a staggering record of 282 goals in 575 games.
As a result, the veteran’s move is extremely praiseworthy. The switch will not only see him play in his favourable position but will also provide him the platform for next year’s World Cup.
Because of not playing regularly at Barca the striker faced difficulty in getting into Spain’s starting line up at the Confederations Cup.
El Guaje has scored 56 goal in 91 caps for Spain - and he can still do a job. Fernando Torres and Radamel Falcao have earned excellent reputations at Atletico - this club is a magnet for world-class strikers.
Atletico has got the right man to replace Falcao - there is no doubt Villa will enjoy a great scoring run here.
