Steven Gerrard has signed yet another contract extension with Liverpool which will keep him at the club until at least 2015.
The 33-year-old England midfielder has played his entire career at Liverpool, clocking up 630 appearances for the club so far along with a tally of 159 goals.
The experienced midfielder signed his new contract on Monday morning and has spoken of his delight in signing, especially before the start of the new league campaign.
“I'm glad it's all done and it's happened at the right time, before the season, so I can just focus on playing as well as I can,” said Gerrard.
Despite his concentration of his quality of football, he can be happy knowing that with his career at Anfield, he had won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, 2 FA Cups and three League Cups since his debut in 1998.
The Liverpool board have also spoken of their delight in the new contract extension.
Managing director Ian Ayre said: “It’s fantastic for everyone; the club, Steven, and the fans. He is, and always has been, such a big part of Liverpool Football Club.
"Particularly in this day and age, it’s rather unique to find a local player who has given his whole career to his club.”
Liverpool fans will be happy their star midfielder and captain has committed his future for at least another two years.
As one of the Premier League’s most loyal players in its history, Gerrard will also be glad to extend his time at his boyhood club and leave a bigger legacy when his playing days are over.
