Barcelona's injury-prone winger Ibrahim Affelay's hopes of a move to England this summer have been rocked by yet another set-back, according to talkSPORT.
The Dutchman signed for the Catalan giants from PSV Eindhoven in 2011 despite interest from Premier League teams Tottenham and Liverpool, who were believed to be keen on acquiring his services.
Both clubs are understood to still be courting the player, although injuries have hampered his time in Spain, and he was loaned out to German side Schalke earlier this year.
Another loan move looked to be on the cards for the 27-year-old ahead of the next campaign but an injury setback has cast doubt over the possibility according to his agent, Rob Jansen.
"He had a relapse. It's a serious blow. It will take more weeks than expected for him to be fit again," Jansen said.
"Because of the injury, the chance he can leave on loan has become very small now, that's how it works."
Affelay was a huge talent while at PSV, scoring 35 goals in 159 appearances for the club, but he has only managed 20 appearances at the Camp Nou since his move.
The player is certainly a great talent and providing he can stay fit he could become a valuable asset to Barcelona, although he may have his work cut out trying to break into what is an incredibly competitive squad.
