Football News

Galatasaray’s January transfer business left them with a fearsome attacking unit in the form of Didier Drogba, Burak Yilmaz and the brilliant Wesley Sneijder.

Notts County are the the oldest football league club in the world, so Meadow Lane will have been the venue for more than a few sensational goals.

Another can be added to that list after Galatasaray’s 2-1 win over the Magpies on Tuesday evening.

Holland international Wesley Sneijder decided the tie with a winner in the dying seconds and it was a real beauty.

The ball was headed down to him just under 30 yards out from goal, he took a touch and hit a dipping shot on the bounce and into the top corner off the post.

Sneijder has scored his fair share of spectacular goals through the years and this one will be up there with them in terms of quality.

However, the most memorable moment of the night was when Notts County defender Alan Sheehan accidentally kicked goalkeeper Bartosz Bielkowski in the face.

GMS prefer to watch the goals, however, and a shout out to 101 Great Goals for picking it up.
