Chris Froome won stage 17 of the Tour De France by nine seconds to extend his overall lead on Wednesday.
The Team Sky rider finished the 32km time trial from Embrun to Chorges in 51min 31sec. His main rival for the yellow jersey, Saxo-Tinkoff's Alberto Contador, finished in second, nine seconds behind the British rider.
Team Katusha's Joaquim Rodríguez came in third one second behind his Spanish compatriot. The biggest loser on the stage was Dutchman Bauke Mollema.
The Belkin rider started the day in second place in the general classification but lost more than two minutes to his rivals.
Following the controversial end to yesterday's stage, when Contador and Froome had a coming together on a descent, the Spaniard put in a strong performance as he looked to claw back some time on the Team Sky cyclist.
The former-Tour winner put in an excellent ride, but was pipped to the win by Froome, who changed his bike mid-way through the ride to help his descending.
It was a tactic employed by several riders on the stage, a challenging time trial punctuated by two climbs.
The Team Sky leader was 11 seconds down when he changed bikes, and afterwards admitted the swap could have been key.
As reported by the BBC, Froome said: "I couldn't believe it when I saw I had the fastest time.
"I came into today expecting to limit my losses. I really didn't have the rain in my favour today, but the bike change could well have been the difference. I felt I needed the bigger gearing for the descent.
