Ronaldinho is generally a well-loved footballer around the world, but it appears fans in Ascuncion, Paraguay do not share this affection.

Atletico Mineiro were playing in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores against Olimpia when there were some shocking scenes as a corner kick was set to be taken.

It’s not unusual for things to be thrown at opposition players when taking corner kicks, though it is usually things like plastic cups, drinks containers, paper planes and even coins at the worst.

So you can imagine the shock on Ronaldinho’s face when he walks over a feels something a little more sinister whistle past his ears.

He picked up the objects to show to the referee and a camera close-up showed them to be two sizeable rocks.

Coins could give you a nasty sting and even draw some blood, but rocks could brain you.

Ronaldinho is understandably shocked to see them and the Olimpia players then come over to remonstrate with the crowd and plead for calm.

It didn’t get much better for the Brazilian team as play continued and they eventually lost 2-0, leaving themselves with a mountain to climb in the second leg.
