Rio Ferdinand films Manchester United prank

Rio Ferdinand stated last week that results in pre-season come secondary to the need to reach optimum fitness ahead of the new campaign, and the Manchester United face an intense few weeks of training ground drilling before competitive action begins.

Despite the importance and intensity of pre-season training there is, however, always room for some japes during the hours spent away from the pitch, as was demonstrated yesterday on the Manchester United team bus.

Long stretches on the open road can become rather monotonous and different players will make travelling more bearable by doing variety of things. Some like to listen to music, others prefer to watch films, while there will often be a few games of cards going on.

Some, however, while away the minutes and hours by playing practical jokes on their teammates - with Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley clearly advocates of indulging in pranks.

The Manchester United duo were filmed by Rio Ferdinand as part of his tour diary messing with Alex Buttner, who was blissfully unaware he was being merked by the giggling pair.

Cleverley was the instigator of the prank as he tied the laces of Buttner's unguarded shoe to near a impenetrable state, before delicately placing the sneaker where he had initially found it.

Rio Ferdinand will be providing more updates on his official Facebook page during pre-season. Like it here.
