The Orlando Magic have announced the signing of free agent Jason Maxiell on a two-year deal worth $5m.
Maxiell joins to add even more experience to an ageing squad that is currently struggling badly with injuries.
The 30-year-old had previously been playing for the Detroit Pistons, where he had been ever since his draft in 2005, and will now move to Orlando for pastures new.
At 6ft 7in, Maxiell is an imposing presence and he will be expected to add power to Orlando's offence.
Whilst playing for the Pistons, he made 523 appearances and averaged 6.1 points per game during this time.
He was marginally up on this average in his last full-season for the club, though. In that he averaged averaged 6.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
He was originally selected in 2005 as the 26th pick in the first-round draft by the Pistons after he had impressed for the University of Cincinnati.
