Marussia have confirmed that Ferrari will provide them with their new V6 engines from the start of the 2014 season.
Cosworth are the current supplier of the team’s engines, but they are ending their business with Formula 1.
Ferrari will also provide them with gearboxes and other technological developments.
Marussia are currently in their second season in F1 under their current name, after the team changed it’s name from Virgin in 2011, following their parting of company with Wirth Research.
But so far their best result at a Grand Prix is 12th place in Singapore and Brazil last year, while 13th in Malaysia is the highest they have managed in 2013.
New engine regulations mean that all cars will be changing their engines next season, with 2.4-litre V8 engines changing to 1.6-litre turbo-charged V6s.
Marussia’s chief executive is delighted with the change in development, and is predicting Ferrari’s engines will propel the team to a brighter future.
"The importance of this development to our team cannot be overstated," he said in a statement.
“Not only will we benefit from a customer supply from the most successful engine manufacturer in Formula One's history, but this also provides further confirmation, if it were needed, of our commitment to the sport and determination to maintain our progression towards our long-term ambitions."
The team will go into the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend from July 26-28 joint bottom of the standings, and are still waiting for a driver to finish in the points.
