With speculation that Juan Mata might be on his way out of Chelsea, could this leave Dutch wonderkid Marco van Ginkel in pole position for a place in Chelsea's starting 11?
played down these rumoursThe 25-year-old midfielder has and has said he is a valued player at the club.
"The last time I spoke with the club they told me I was a very important player to them and transmitted confidence in me."
Van Ginkel has been tagged as one of the hottest young prospects in world football and Jose Mourinho has shown a lot of faith in him after signing the 20-year-old playmaker from Vitesse for around £9 million.
He already has quite a lot of experience under his belt, appearing for his previous club Vitesse 33 times in the league last season, scoring eight goals from the advanced midfield role.
Van Ginkel will be happy to hear that his manager Jose Mourinho has a lot of faith in the young man, and had this to say when talking to Sky Sports:
"Of course he needs to play and he will, because he is a player with great potential and physically he is more than ready.
"He is a natural athlete. By the technical and the tactical point of view of course he is a kid, he has to learn, but I think he is very open-minded and we analysed him for quite a long time."
Personally, Van Ginkel has impressed me after seeing him play for Vitesse, he had great vision, creating a lot of chances and helping newly-signed Swansea forward Wilfried Bony score a lot of his goals.
He will be a good addition to the Premier League in the future, and will feature with Chelsea's already youthful midfield consisting of players such as Eden Hazard and Oscar.
